Gua bao chicken recipe recipe

There are more and more gua bao on the menu of our favorite Asian restaurants. However, this recipe is nothing new, it is even an ancestral recipe! It is terribly greedy and should be discovered as soon as possible if it has not been done yet.

Bao means “bread”, they are also called “water lily flower” bread. These buns are very easy to make but require little waiting time. Originally, this dish called “tiger bites the lion” (hu yao shi) prepares for wedding banquets. But here, there is no need to find what you like to enjoy this absolutely delicious dish! As part of an Asian meal or for a dinner aperitif, they will have the best effect. For vegetarians, discover delicious steamed noodles!

Gua Bao chicken recipe

For 6 people

Ingredients:

For bread:
– 450 g flour
– 2 CASES of sugar
– 1 tablespoon of salt
– 20 g of fresh yeast
– 3 cans of milk
– 210 ml of lukewarm water
– 30 g of melted butter
– 1 box of olive oil

For the chicken:
– 10 cl of soy sauce
– 2 CASES with sesame seeds
– 2 chicken breasts

For decoration:
– 1/2 cucumber
– 30 g of mixed salad
– 1 CAS sesame
– Some cilantro branches

1. In a bowl place the flour, yeast, sugar and salt, taking care that the salt does not touch the yeast.

2. Add milk, lukewarm water and melted butter. Cook for at least 10 minutes: the dough should no longer be sticky. Coat the dough with olive oil then cover with a clean cloth and let it rest for 1h30.

3. Meanwhile marinate the chicken in soy sauce and sesame. Delightful reservation.

4. After 1h30, the dough should have doubled in volume. Degass with your fist and then divide into 20 equal parts. To help you, each ball should weigh about 37 g.

5. Open each ball with a pancake and then grease with a little olive oil on top.

6. Add a piece of baking paper to cover half of the dough.

7. Fold the dough over the baking paper.

8. Let it swell for an hour. Then steam for 10 minutes. Meanwhile, cook the chicken and cut it with a fork.
